3 lessons from the future

First things first, you gotta know how to land.
Learn to bend before you burst.

You deflate like a burst blister, fall silent & disappear.
But we wear these shells for a reason.

The reason being, we ain’t broken yet,
even if all we’re tossing with is one bad hand,

that’s the second thing—learn to toss with your bad hand
before the good one needs to be amputated.

You’ll miss the good one, but it’s the bad one who stayed,
& consistency is as sweet as love for a waif like you.

Third thing, a waif like you has no business
looking in that damned mirror, anyhow.

Before you fall into that damned mirror,
first things first, you gotta know how to land.
