Hell’s waltz

The devil on my back
Has seven pseudonyms
His jackal hides his mask
He cries an elfin hymn

I frolic in his fire
My sight and sense collapsed
Like pigeons shot from wire
We drop enslaved in dance

The cloying prince of darkness
An unlikely paramour
Betrays the close resemblance
Between the queens and whores

But love is no abduction
Nor hedonistic haze
Spun-out by his seduction
I contrive a mad escape

I like this, Elizabeth. Especially the last two lines,
    “Spun-out by his seduction
    I contrive a mad escape.”
They remind me of Lee Marvin’s line in the “Cat Ballou” movie, after hearing of the bad guys plans for him, rolled out of the stage coach proclaiming, “‘El Smucco’ is getting out of here.”
