Hook, line, and sinker

Look, aren’t we all just tossing dimes 
in the same fountain, not believing
and sorta secretly believing at the same time?

Once I watched a homeless man wade
through the water, sweeping loose change
at the bottom til security took him away.

Still, you don’t have to carry yourself
like an amoeba in a petri dish.
Try thinking with your teeth instead of your shoulders,

or at the very least dive in, for Christ’s sake!
