I AM poem

I am usually sleepy
The faint mirage of my motherโ€™s daughter
Overwatered, a drunken cactus
Behind the camera, watching wincing
At the woman on screen
I am a girl who looks like me
A face I ought to recognize
After hours
Of looking for myself
Peripherally
As one might spot a hidebehind
A myth among the trees
