Correspondence

Still alive, that is: A coma case
waking up thick-throated
in his own coffin.
Heartworm, meet Nighthawk,
who knew better
than to chase an old flame
through the unlit street.
Blue as a dead star.
The other half of that secret mustโ€™ve fallen out of his ear
when the world went sideways.
When the dirt piled on.
A pulse, against all odds!
Like a bell rung from the grave.
He says, you know what happens when two black holes collide?
He says, Iโ€™ll show you.
Come closer.
I swear on my life and yours.
Thereโ€™s light here, inside.
