Horus the chameleon

Horus the chameleon
has sneaky porous skin.
He waves his pearly crystals
and the magic poisons him.

He’s been pretending so long
he forgot who he was first.
His eyes may wax and wane
but his colors aren’t the worst.

Someday his roaring palette
will have blended into brown.
But while the shifting suits him
he’ll enjoy his gilded crown.
